Hello, World (redux)
I’ve been meaning to set up a proper website for years. The old WordPress blog had exactly one draft post, “Coffee Cups and Donuts”, with one sentence: “To a topologist, a coffee cup and a donut are the same thing.” I never hit publish. Classic.
So here we are. New domain, fresh start, built with Astro because I wanted something fast and low-fuss. No database, no PHP, just markdown files and a build step. It’s the right tool for the kind of site I want: a place to show my publications, document home projects, and occasionally ramble about whatever I’m building or breaking.
Speaking of building, this site will have posts about:
- Physics stuff: my published work on 2D materials, topological superconductivity, and the quantum computing infrastructure I manage at AWS
- Home lab tinkering: 3D printing, electronics, oscilloscope adventures, and the eternal struggle of keeping a soldering station fume-free
- DIY / maker projects: woodworking, keyboard building, and whatever else I get into when the kids are asleep
If you’re into any of that, stick around. I’ll try to write things worth reading.
